Asot Michael’s Transformational Leadership

Asot Michael is a legislative member of the Antigua and Barbuda government. He represents citizens of St. Peters Constituency. Asot Michael bears his grandfather’s full name Asot Anthony Michael whose death was triggered by anti-government riots in 1968. Born in 1969 in Guadeloupe, Asot Michael became part of the active political lineage in his family. His late father, Patrick Michael gave up his business to sustain the life of the Antigua and Barbuda Labor Party (ABLP) that underwent great political turmoil in the early 1970’s. Asot’s siblings were not politically spared either. 

 

They were actively involved in the social-political life of Antigua and Barbuda by socially and economically transforming the nation. Asot Michael has a BS degree in Business Administration (Economic and Finance Major) from Barry University. Additionally, he bears an MBA degree from the University of Miami. His academic accomplishments do not stop there. He is the National Award Winner for high Scholastic achievement by the United States Achievements Academy. Further, Asot Michael also holds a Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society in Business Administration. The MP’s public service journey spans diverse fields since 1992. Beyond working as a Managing Director, he has also served as a Special Administrative Assistant and Chief of Staff in the Office of the Prime Minister, Government of Antigua and Barbuda between 1995 and 2000. 

 

While in this Office, Asot Michael was appointed as Government Senator as well as Minister of State between 1999 and 2001. He was placed in charge of Public Works, Communications, Insurance, Energy, and St. John’s Development Corporation. A Minister of Public Works appointment soon followed in 2001. This time round Asot Michael was appointed as a full Minister. Between the years 1999 and 2003, he served in the Senate and Upper House of Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda as Leader of Government Business. Being raised in an active political family, Asot Michael took up the family mantle. He joined the ABLP to help steer its vision. 

This paved the way for him to contest for an elective post as the people’s representative in March 2004. As an active member of Antigua and Barbuda House of Representatives, Asot has achieved significant milestones for his constituents. He not only cares for the people of St. Peters constituency, but also epitomizes the spirit of service above self. Asot Michael has succeeded in building global strategic partnerships that have translated to massive benefits for Antigua and Barbuda. His servant leadership, exceptional negotiation skills, along with incredible people skills define him as a leader who makes things happen. He is a true community leader and public servant.
